Obituary

Rogene Vosburgh LeMay, age 91, of Lake Clear, New York died Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 14, 1928, she was the daughter of Maurice Vosburgh and and Gloria Thompson Vosburgh.

Rogene graduated from Saranac Lake High School. She attended the American Institute of Banking and Finance as well as art schools in New York, New York and the Farnsworth School of Art, under Jerry Farnsworth, in Siesta Key, Florida.

Rogene was an avid gardener, artist, and connoisseur of antiques. She studied American History, with a focus on the 1700-1800's and an historic appreciation of the local Adirondacks that she loved. A little known fact is that she was a lover of animals and worked for a time at the Saranac Lake Animal Shelter.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara LeMay Darring; grandchildren, Jennifer McIntosh Blaker and her husband, Jeremy Blaker, of Greenwood, Indiana, Shane McIntosh and his wife Judi of Lake Clear, New York, and Sam Darring of Los Angeles, California; three great grandchildren, Ehyrie Buehler, Lyric Smith, and Blake McIntosh; nephews, William and Julie Donati, their daughter Olivia, and James Donati, and his son Austin Jandreau of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; as well as her long-time companion and friend, Tanya Thomas. Mrs. LeMay was predeceased by her husband, Peter Venance LeMay; her parents Maurice and Gloria Vosburgh; and her sister, Gloria Vosburgh Donati.

Service will be held at Saint Bernard's Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Monday, April 29, to be followed by a graveside burial at the Harrietstown Cemetary. A reception will follow at the Porcupine Inn on Park Avenue from 1:00 to 4:00.

Dear Barbie,
You are in my thoughts and in my heart, and I share your sadness at the loss of your Mom. Rogene was the finest of friends, and a great painting buddy - and her roast pork was second to none! I will always miss and cherish her laughter, her kindness, and her wisdom, and the wonderful weekends at Camp we enjoyed together over so many decades.
My sincere condolences to you and your family.
Je t’embrasse très fort,
Betty Brandt

Dear James, Barb and extended Family, Dana and I wishing you all comfort and peace at this difficult time. I had the pleasure of meeting Rogene and I thought she was lovely. I wished I could have had more time talking and sharing stories with her. May she rest in peace. One more Angel Guardian watching over us. Our planted tree (Rogene LeMay) will be as beautiful as she...Love always, Diane and Dana

Barb, I am so sorry to hear about Rogene's passing but at 91 she certainly lived a long and fruitful life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Thank you so much for introducing me to Rogene over the years. I think our trip to her house this past summer was one of the best! I was fascinated when she shared her latest painting purchases and described so many of her other antiques in detail. It created the lasting memory I will always have of a person still excited and engaged in everyday life. See you Monday.
