Obituary for William M. Boutiler

William M.  Boutiler
William M. Boutilier, age 87, died peacefully, February 6, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Utica, NY on May 28, 1928, he was the son of William and Gertrude (Schuler) Boutilier. He graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1946, served in the US Army from September 1946 to February 1948 and graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1951.

On June 26, 1954, he married the love of his life, Anne Fisher, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rome, NY. They were very happily married for over 61 years.

Bill was employed by the New York Telephone Company in 1957 and worked in Utica, Glens Falls and New York City. In 1967, he moved with his family to Saranac Lake to become the area manager, retiring in 1987.

Bill was a member of the Saranac Lake Presbyterian Church and an ordained Elder and Deacon. He was a past member of the Adirondack Boy Scout Council, Saranac Lake School Board, Rotary and Elks. More recently he was a volunteer with the Community Lunch Box.

Bill was very proud of his family. He had a great sense of humor. He loved and was loved and will be missed so very much.

He was predeceased by his father and mother. Bill is survived by his wife Anne and their children, Carol (Jeffrey) Reyell, Steven (Jeanne) Boutilier, Janet (Mark) Simkins and Nancy (Stephen) Dilger, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Janet Burton.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 10, at 3 pm at the Saranac Lake Presbyterian Church. Following the service the family will greet friends in the Church’s reception hall. Interment will be in the Harrietstown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are in the care of the Fortune Keough Funeral Home.
