Firewood

Hi Kim,

Just wanted to share a memory of Russ going out into the woods every day (and night) with his bow saw to cut dead balsam and whatever else he'd come across to heat your first log cabin.  He worked really hard to keep his family warm.

Another memory is Russ joyfully slopping the pigs with the salad fixings I'd bring home from the Red Fox. And of the taste of the pork dinner you served.  And of the pride in Russ's face when I told him how exceptional that meat tasted.

Of course, I have the memory of you, at 25 below zero, bundled in sleeping bags and blankets, 6 feet from the roaring Franklin stove, addressing Christmas cards.  At that time I called you the toughest woman I had ever met and to this day have yet to meet your match.
