When a serious sickness came to the Samburghs just a few years ago we were all thrown into termoil. Not knowing how to helpout and having John in the hospital my wife sat me down and said you have alot of time off from school go north and be with Buss. On the phone I went and asked Buss if he wanted company and I got that tell tale saying "Probably would'nt hurt" so up I came. Needles to say the week was full of expierences, advice, opinions and getting to spend time with the greatest man I have known. Now having two men alone in Carols house was quite a deal. Buss did the cooking and i did the deer cuting with a Dewalt Reciprocating saw. Talk about FROZEN! Fine butchering Buster style. Upon ending the meal then it was time to wach old racing tapes and I would be sent into the front room to find a certain race in a sea of VHS cassetts to hear Buss say "Its right in the middle of the pile". Bedtime was a deal in its self the coffee before bed,dropping dogs off the truck and packing the stove only to be awaken the next morning by Buss in the kitchen at 4:00 getting coffee ready. Being a normal male the first thing I had to do is a nature call and being greeted by "By god I was wondering if you were getting up". So the coffee river would start forthe day and out we would go to drop and water dogs. Returning inside you would get the "You better hope Carol does'nt see her sink full of dishes like that which mean"t time to do the dishes. When I week came to an end its was the hardst thing to say goodbye and walk away. Th last thing Buster said to me was thank you! As this anniversary of your passing is upon us Buss res in peace knowing that the the family business in still alive and well and the unity of us all is still there. Miss you my mentor Dud Browning

Carol, John and Cindy our deepest sympathy to you and the rest of the family. Buster was a wonderful man and we will always have fond memories of him. Not many people become legends in their own time, but Buster was one of those rare people that did and wore the label well. He was a mentor to so many mushers in the North East and beyond and will forever be remembered for his contributions to the sport of mushing.

It was a pleasure and loads of fun working with Buster and the entire Samburgh Family on the ALPO International Sled Dog Races for many years! They are the “GO-TO” Sled Dog Family for organizing and working from sun up to after sun down in the freezing cold to ensure the many successes for ALL the years WE hosted the ISDRA Sanctioned Largest Purse ALPO International Sled Dog Races in the World! Buster will be missed and I for, one will treasure my memories for many years to come. Condolences to his lovely, supportive Wife, Carol and racing family John and Cindy! Thinking of you too.
