Obituary for Anna Homza Ferree (Homza)

Anna Homza Ferree, age 98, of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, has gone to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 joining her sons Miles and David and her daughter Sally.

Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1920, she was the daughter of Michael and Anna (Evans) Homza. Anna, married Miles Joseph Ferree Thursday, September 7, 1944 in Kingston, PA.

Anna was a long time resident of Saranac Lake where she operated a day care for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake where she served as Ruling Elder, Financial Secretary, Presbytery Liaison, UPW member, mission committee member and worked on special projects CWS blankets and the Bell Tower. Anna gives thanks for her long life and the blessings of many generations of family and her many friends.

She is survived by one daughter Susan Knobel of Saranac Lake, one son-in-law Otis Scranton of Corinth, one daughter-in-law Vesta LeRoy Mason, of Malone, NY and grandchildren Timothy Ross, Caroline (Keven) Regales, Barbara Saumier, Richard (Vanessa) Mason, Shari (Nate) Miller, Jill (Seth) Silver, Dr. Robert (Lindsey) Mason, Brian (Amy) Mason and her dearest and most loved friends Danny McGraw and his mother Grace McGraw. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, one daughter Sally Scranton, two sons David and Miles Ferree and one son-in-law Robert Knobel.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 14, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake, with Pastor Joanne White officiating. At Anna’s request there will be a church Tea served immediately following the service. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
