Obituary for Jacklyn Hagar (Hickey)
Jacklyn Hagar, age 85, of Saranac Lake, NY and Melbourne, FL died on Monday August 5, 2019 at Melbourne Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, FL.
Born in Keene Valley, New York on May 11, 1934, she was the daughter of John and Daisy (Pratt) Hickey. Jacklyn married Robert K. Hagar on Saturday September 27, 1969. He predeceased her on May 24, 2012.
Jackie grew up in Keene, NY where she attended school and graduated in 1952. She later went on to attend Albany Secretarial School. She had been employed at the Lake Placid Hospital as an X-ray technician and Medical Record Librarian for many years until her retirement. Jackie also volunteered for the meals on Wheels program and the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by three brothers William (Beverly) Hickey of Keeseville, NY, Jim Hickey of Melbourne, FL and Robert (Margaret) Hickey of Keene, NY, two sisters Patricia Hickey of Keene, NY and Kathleen Gagnon of Melbourne, FL, three step sons Robert Hagar of Jay, NY, William Hagar (Darlene) of Ticonderoga, NY, and Thomas (Amy) Hagar of Saranac Lake, NY, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by parents, husband Robert and one son David Hagar.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial is set to take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 10, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. A reception will follow at the First Presbyterian Church Hall on Church Street in Saranac Lake. Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Upper Jay following the reception.
Friends wishing to remember Jacklyn Hagar may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
