Obituary for Susan Kathleen Barner-Rasmussen
Susan Kathleen Barner-Rasmussen, age 75, of Saranac Lake, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on April 6, 1944, she was the daughter of William and Aurora (Romeo) Alton. Susan married Hans Rasmussen on July 10, 1999. He predeceased her on March 21, 2018.
Susan worked in Chicago, IL until her transfer to Albany, NY for the airline industry. She worked in Albany, NY for many years, retiring from US Air. Susan enjoyed travel and visiting between her home in Troy, NY and her husband’s home in Saranac Lake, NY. She especially loved visiting Bridgeman, MI every summer in August to attend "Camp". Susan was a volunteer at Adirondack Health Gift Shop and gathered friends and acquaintances where ever she went.
She is survived by one son Timothy (Brenda) Fitzgerald of LaGrange, GA, one sister Karen (Mark) Uban of Westfrank Fort, IL, two brothers William (Bonnie) Alton of Olympia, WA and Ronald (Inger) Tiberi of Woodridge, IL, and one granddaughter Maira Fitzgerald of LaGrange, GA.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday June 19, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with Rev. Frederick Dennis officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL at a later date.
