Obituary for Margaret B. Morford (Barkley)
Margaret B. Morford, 88, of Bloomingdale, NY died Wednesday May 22, 2019 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany.
Margaret was born in Lisbon, NY on July 23, 1930 the daughter of Murray and Pearl (Brontmeyer) Barkley. She became a Registered Nurse and worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Hospital in Ogdensburg, Ray Brook Hospital, Lake Placid Hospital and the Saranac Lake General Hospital. Margaret retired in 1972. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking.
Margaret married Harold Morford on June 18, 1953 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, NY.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Katherine McCloskey of Albany, NY and Diana (Tom) Swain of Saranac Lake, NY., her son Harold (Susan) of Amenia, NY. Six grandchildren: Jeremy, Mathew and Sean McCloskey, Jason & Ashley Swain and Megan Chamberlain, eleven great grandchildren, and 1 sister Sharon Fields of Lisbon, NY. and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased in death by her husband Harold, her father and mother, her three brothers William, Lawrence and John Barkley, two sisters Kathleen Farrell and Betty Jean Morford.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There will be no Calling hours, services will be held on Saturday June 1, 2019 at 11:00am at the funeral home with burial immediately following at Brookside Cemetery, Bloomingdale, NY. with Reverend Carol Williams Officiating.
