Elizabeth Veronica Roberts (Betty)
On March 15, 2019 Betty a long-time resident of Saranac Lake, NY passed away in Lady Lake, Florida.
Betty was born March 3, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland to Reginald and Elizabeth Quayle. During WWII she trained as a sick children's nurse. At the age of 21 Betty emigrated to the United States with her adoptive parents Bill and Betty Jarvis proprietors of the Hotel Alpine in Saranac Lake NY in 1947.
On September 17, 1949 at the Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake she married Robert T. Roberts (Bob) the former President of the Saranac Lake Federal Savings and Loan Association.
Betty was an RN and worked for many years at the Saranac Lake General Hospital which was located on Winona Avenue (currently NCCC) and then Lake Colby Drive. She was an excellent golfer, a prolific knitter, artist and quilter. Her quilts have won numerous awards at shows in and around central FL.
Betty is survived by her husband of 70 years Bob Roberts of Lady Lake, FL and her sons Thomas Roberts (Diane) of Saranac Lake and Lady Lake and Kenneth Roberts (Sandra) of Tucson, AZ.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Saranac Lake, NY. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Pine Ridge Cemetery where she will rest next to her parents.
