Obituary for Robert W. Girard Sr.
Robert W. Girard, Sr., age 90, of Lake Clear, NY died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Canisteo, New York on September 22, 1928, he was the son of Albert and Rachel (Bouchie) Girard. Robert married Betty Donaldson on March 19, 1950 in Lake Clear, New York.
Mr. Girard had drove truck for most of his life. He drove for Kavanaugh Trucking for 30 years, Whitney Park, George A. Donaldson and for the Town of Harrietstown Highway Department for 21 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Betty of Lake Clear, two sons Robert Girard, Jr. of Lake Clear, NY and Gerald (Vickkie) Girard of South Carolina, three daughters Sandra (Mickey) Slater of Florida, Sally (Barney) Reyell of Lake Clear, NY, and Patricia Girard of Saranac Lake, NY, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters and one brother.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A private funeral service will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake Clear in the spring.
