Obituary for Regina L. Benware (Sawyer)

Regina L. Benware, age 69, of Bloomingdale, NY died Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on August 29, 1949, she was the daughter of Reginald and Alma (Charbonneau) Sawyer. Regina married Thomas Benware September 9, 1967 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.

Regina had worked at the Grand Union in Saranac Lake for many years. She also was a volunteer at the Christian Center Food Pantry in Saranac Lake. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and especially loved her dogs.

She is survived by her husband Thomas of Bloomingdale, three sons Thomas (Glenda) Benware of Queensbury, Kevin Benware of Lake Placid, and Brian Benware of Bloomingdale, one daughter Wendy (Shawn) O'Brien of Bloomingdale and six grandchildren, Matthew, Hayley, Connor, Meagan, Kevin and Darron. She is also survived by her mother Alma Sawyer of Rainbow Lake, one brother Gordon (Carol) Sawyer of Rainbow Lake, and five sisters Judith O'Dell of Saranac Lake, Susan Andrews of Plattsburgh, Bonnie Easton of North Carolina, Sharon (Paul) Knapp of Saranac Lake, and Donna (Robert) Cantwell of Rainbow Lake and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A private funeral service will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale at a later date.
