I met Dr. Barnard at Quarryside in Jamesville, where she took wonderful care of my cats and dog. She was a wonderful person, so caring and compassionate, and she was a joy to know. Her intelligence and her easy way with people and with animals made her a fantastic vet. I will truly miss her and express my deepest sympathy to her husband, parents, family and friends. She has gone way too soon, a tremendous loss.

Adrienne was such an incredible person. Over the last week since we heard the tragic news, many of us have been sharing our favorite stories of Adrienne. Similar words were chosen in describing her- intelligent, very funny, kind and just a wonderful person to know. Her stories would brighten the room and make all laugh. The only thing we can believe is that God wanted a great Vet to reassure the animals as they crossed the Rainbow Bridge. When we first met Adrienne at the animal hospital, we thought what a character. And indeed, she was. We and our animals were happy when she was our vet tech. When she told us, she was going to vet school, we were so happy for her and told her to make sure she came back to us. No one can fathom the loss for her loved ones. All we can do is tell you how wonderful she was and how much she'll be missed

As I get older and as the years pass by it gets harder and harder to remember people from the past and to empathize with them. Adrienne was an exception because even though I hadn't seen her in many years, never once had I considered her someone from the past. I always considered her a friend. Someone whose life I was interested in and cared what happened to. Someone who's passing was as devastating as any close relative. Adrienne was a real person. Kind, genuine and caring. My memories of her will never fade and as more years pass, neither will the happy feelings those memories bring or the pain her void leaves. I can honestly say that I loved Adrienne as a person and she will be greatly missed. My condolences and thoughts go out to her entire family and everyone she's touched.

I met Adrienne, Jack and their families and friends last year when I had the honor of marrying them at their home in clay. We quickly connected on several levels when they came into the office to apply for a marriage license. We share a love of animals and greyhound rescue efforts. We compared notes about our "furry children" and bonded in friendship. She carried light with her where ever she went and I can't think of a better matched fun loving couple. Likewise, her friends and family were warm and welcoming to me. Since that time I have seen Adrienne on a few occasions and she always brought sunshine into my office, and as always we discussed greyhounds and her new career direction, visiting vet. I am so very saddened to hear of her passing. She leaves a great void in this world for both humans and animals and a deep sadness in my heart. My prayers go to Jack, her family and friends and her beloved pets left behind. My life is richer for knowing Adrienne, she is beautiful and an inspiration.

I never knew that ordering flowers could be so painful. Our youngest child, Jack, had found a very special woman to love and cherish and to share his life with. Her sudden death has devastated us all. There is no way to make any sense of this. The death of someone so young and so close to us makes me realize how words just are inadequate beyond just a ‘you are in our thoughts and prayers’. Adrienne was a beautiful, sweet and generous soul. The fun started when Adrienne arrived. She had a wonderful sense of humor, the sort that no one could take offense at. There are so many adjectives that could apply to Adrienne (intelligent, beautiful, accomplished for a few) but fun would be at the top of a long list of positives. For Bruce, Jill and Hillary who loved and had Adrienne in their lives for so long and for Jack who fell in love with her, there are no words to properly convey our sadness and sympathy for the pain that you all feel. We only knew her for a bit but came to love and enjoy her. I had hoped in my near retirement to get to know Adrienne and you all much better and to enjoy more time with Adrienne and Jack as family. Adrienne will never be forgotten. She will always be in our memories and hearts. Love and God Bless to all. Rest in peace our dear Adrienne.

I first met Adrienne three years ago at Quarryside. She was with me through good times and bad times, laughter and tears. She loved all members of Ladew Zoo and was so gentle and kind with them. Last fall she became Coco's 'personal' vet and we all looked forward to her visits to my home. The 'Old Geezer' as she called Coco was her favorite. Over the three years I knew her we became friends. She laughed with her whole heart and hugged like she meant it. She left this world too soon but I know my life is better for knowing her. This world is better for her having been in it. I shared many-a homeroom with Adrienne. I knew her for years as a classmate, and as a friend. I had the distinct impression that she was freinds with everyone she talked to. Her laugh was infectious, and her cheer was obvious. She had more challenges in life than most of us did while we were growing up and she was still the kind of person that would hold up everyone around her. I don't know where she found her strengh of character, but I know that she inspired others to be stronger just by standing next to them. Always an encouraging word and a genuine smile. To this day, and likely for the rest of my life, when someone says "a really good person," Adrienne will be the yardstick I use to guage. She truly is one of the best of us, and I have no doubt the lives she has changed will hold her close and help to spread the feeling of unity she gave to everyone, unconditionally.

So I will admit I haven't heard from Adrienne in probably close to 10 years, but she was always a truly genuine person who I could relate to a lot. I guess you wouldn't expect it, because we were a bit different, but something made us get along, and I appreciate that. We were in a few classes in high school, and would often see each other at gatherings and what not, but what I remember most is that we would always get a chuckle over something, and not seem to take life so seriously. Know that Adrienne is in my thoughts, and all my best to the family...

Who but Adrienne could handle calls and texts from two cell phones at once yet manage to entertain (!) & thoroughly charm four new friends for a couple of hours over lunch? It was our family's privilege come into Adrienne's world only in the last few months, and we are so much the richer for it. She was a veritable comet of enthusiasm, leaving us all twinkling a little brighter in her wake. I'm happy to be just one of the many, many people who enjoyed her sparkle, her warmth, her smile. Our deepest sympathy to Adrienne's family and friends. We'll miss her.

We knew her as Dr. Barnard at the Quarryside Animal Hospital. She helped us with the difficult decision to put our 13 yr. old sheltie Tyson to sleep. I first met Adrienne at my sister Angie's house in Saranac Lake. She is the only person I have ever met that I truly believe you couldn't help but adore. She had the ability to make you laugh uncontrollaby, find the happiness in the smallest acts and feel better about who you were. Ade came into my life, when she came to work at High Peaks Animal Hospital, many years ago. She became my sister, daughter, friend, family, soon after. We spent many hours working, laughing, being crazy. She constantly amazed me with her fortitude, joyful nature no matter what obstacle she faced. Adrienne was the most unique, amazing person I have met in my life, I am having great difficulty believing that she is truly gone. I am so fortunate to have spent time with her this past August and had the opportunity to witness what a compassionate, talent veterinarian my favorite girl had become. From the moment I met you I could tell that the beautiful radiance of life that surrounded you was unlike that of anyone else I had ever known. Your personality was so infectious that people would never forget you after just the first time meeting you. You taught me to love animals and you filled our house with them and they have touched my heart. You taught me to love the snow and winter. I ski'd for the first time with you and we then went every week we could. You showed me the beauty of the Adirondacks and everything you loved about the place you grew up in. We traveled together for my first big trip outside the US and had the most amazing time in Mexico. You introduced me to a wonderful group of friends and the close knit community from Cornell. You showed me more love than anyone could possibly hope to have. You changed my world so much and I love you with all my heart. My world is changing again now and my heart is breaking. "Ade" left many adult friends behind when she graduated from SLHS. Lots of great stories have been told in the last two days about her confidence, grace, humor, and kindness. I recall the day Adrienne walked into church, ultra conservative congregation: with GRAPE colored hair. Comes in and sits in the pew. I come in and see her and say to her, "Girl,you have balls". She laughed and said,"Tell me". She told me she was learning how to come into her own skin and find her true self. I asked if she needed GRAPE colored hair to do that and she said , "I dont need the hair but I do need the reaction of others to the hair". As you all know she found her true self and she grew into her own skin and became the wonderful, sweet, kind, gal we all love. The GRAPE came with her humor and her willingness and comfort to be differant and to march to a differant drummer and to be at peace with her soul. She leaves a legacy of pure kindness and tolerance to those that are differant and to that I pray we all will continue. Now Angel Girl...be with all of us and we celebrate your life and will always celebrate the blessings you bestowed on us....YOU are SO LOVED
