Rose Frances (Bruchan) Van Nortwick, age 94, of Saranac Lake, died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Denver, CO. on October 8, 1924, she was the daughter of Frank Bruchan and Frances Ruptak. Rose married Robert Miles Van Nortwick on September 27, 1945 in Denver, Colorado.
Rose loved her family and life in the Adirondack Mountains. She enjoyed watching the many birds from her kitchen window. Outside of home, she volunteered for High Peaks Hospice where she enjoyed the camaraderie of the other ladies. She had fond memories of being an official hockey time keeper and manager, along with her husband Miles, of hockey equipment for the Pee Wee Hockey Association.
She was an accomplished violinist, pianist, knitter, seamstress, and provided her family with wonderful meals. Rose grew some amazing roses in her garden and had quite the green thumb for nurturing African violets.
Rose is survived by her son Miles (Sue) Van Nortwick of Saranac Lake, daughters Marie (Lutz Micheels) Van Nortwick of Bloomingdale and Jerrie (Tom) Walsh of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by her grandchildren Erin (Josh) La Londe of Tupper Lake, Adam (Steph) Van Nortwick of Virginia, Jeni Van Nortwick of Saranac Lake, and two great grandchildren Gavin and Avery Van Nortwick of Virginia. Several nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and other relatives residing in Colorado survive. Rose was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Miles and her daughter Sharon Van Nortwick.
Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. All services are private and will be at the convenience of the family. There will be a remembrance gathering in the spring.
