Obituary for Albert L. Van Derveer

Albert L.  Van Derveer
Albert L. Van Derveer, 87, formerly of Tupper Lake, NY, passed away peacefully in his Sebastian, Florida home on December 15, 2015. He was born in Syracuse, NY on October 16, 1928, a son of Leemond Van Derveer and Mary Willer. He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree which lead to his certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He was a licensed CPA in three states including New York, New Jersey and Florida.
On February 29, 1952 he married in Syracuse to Mary Delvecchio of Saranac Lake, NY. They resided in West Long Branch and in Ramsey, New Jersey prior to moving to Tupper Lake in 1986. For sixteen years, Mr. VanDerveer was Chief Financial Officer of Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch NJ and maintained an accounting practice for eight years at 80 Park Street, Tupper Lake before permanently moving to Florida in 1993. Mr. VanDerveer was an active member of the Tupper Lake Rotary Club, Vero Beach Rotary Club and a military veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving, besides his wife Barbara A. Andrews, are a son, Christopher VanDerveer of Philadelphia, PA, a daughter, Alicia Ashenfarb of Morganville, NJ and two grandchildren, Adam Joseph Ashenfarb and Aleyna Mary Ashenfarb. Another son, James VanDerveer, died on April 20, 1988 and his first wife, Mary Delvecchio died on July 14, 1989.

Arrangements were through Fortune-Keogh Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, NY. A Christian graveside burial was celebrated at 9:30AM on December 29, 2015 at St. Bernard's cemetery, Saranac Lake, NY with immediate family and Rev. Patrick Ratigan present. Mr. VanDerveer now rests in peace next to his beloved wife and son at St. Bernard's cemetery. Mr. VanDerveer wanted to be remembered a good guy and he will be missed by all.
