Maurice J. "Mo"  O'Brien, Jr.
Maurice “Mo” J. O'Brien, Jr., age 68, of 23 Donaldson Road, Lake Clear, died Friday, August 30, 2013.

Born in Eugene, Oregon on March 17, 1945, he was the son of Maurice and Anna May (Wurtzburg) O'Brien, Sr. Mo married Lorraine Valley on August 28, 1995 at Sekon Lodge on Upper Saranac Lake.

Mo graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset in 1962 and later attended St. John’s University. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1966 to 1970. Mo had been employed as a Police Officer for Glen Cove in 1971 and in Nassau County from 1972 to 1996. He is the past President of Glen Head Rod and Gun Club, past Secretary of the Matinecock Rod and Gun Club, member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club, Saranac Lake Rod and Gun Club, President of the Veterans Memorial Association and member of the American Legion Post 447.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Lake Clear, one son Christopher O’Brien and his wife Christy of Amityville, NY, one granddaughter Lonnie Finn O’Brien of Amityville one grandson Brandon O’Brien of Glen Cove, one Daughter-in-law Mary Ann Fitzpatrick of Glen Cove, one sister Bernadette Miller and her husband Fred of Glen Cove. He was preceded in death by one son Sean O’Brien.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at the Harrietstown Cemetery, with Rev. Bill Muench officiating.
